National award for young wool broker

A LOCAL Elders district wool manager has won a prestigious industry award.

Rex Bennett has won the 2014 National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia young wool broker of the year award at a recent event in Melbourne.

As part of Melbourne’s Wool Week, Mr Bennett was recognised at a national level for his excellence and innovation in service to woolgrowers and his willingness to involve himself in all aspects of the brokering business.

Mr Bennett said it was an honor to be recognised at a national level, particularly for the work with clients in the Wangaratta, Yarrawonga and Albury and Euroa districts.

He put a lot of focus into client services throughout almost a decade in the industry, along with management and he is also a senior auctioneer.

“The wool broker awards are a great industry initiative and promote excellence in wool services among young or emerging brokers,” he said.

“I enjoy working alongside my clients and assisting in areas such as sheep classing and ram selection as well as helping them to make better use of industry tools such as Australian Sheep Breeding Values, Bred Well Fed Well workshops and Life Time Ewe Management courses.”
