THE heat seemed to be coming off beef prices on Friday at the monthly store cattle sale at the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange but most sellers would still have reason to smile according to Corcoran Parker stock agent Kevin Sanderson.
Over 900 head were yarded at the final store cattle sale of the year at the new look saleyards with stock, buyers, sellers and agents enjoying the pleasant environment under the new roof.
“Generally the market was just off the boil a little but prices were still strong,” Mr Sanderson said.
“There were a few extra buyers including one from interstate at Wangaratta in the morning, which started at 9.30am, before heading off to Euroa for their sale at 1pm.
“Overall it was a pretty solid market; store cattle are selling extremely well.
“The fat cattle market the day before at Wangaratta saw the bigger steers 8c to 10c a kilo cheaper so it’s remarkable the store market is remaining strong.”
