Weather smiles on the vines

RECENT rains along with sunny days and cool nights have King Valley vignerons expecting another top harvest next year.

Christian Dalzotto, president of Wines of the King Valley, said the recent wet weather may have caused access difficulty for a time into some vineyards but the vines themselves were looking excellent.

“There has been a bit of wet weather but all it has done is delayed the season a bit,” he said.

“Conditions are good and the vines are looking extremely healthy.

“The year’s harvest started towards the end of January so next year it will probably be a few weeks later into February.

“Anything can change between now and then though, depending on the weather.”
