29th Tallangatta Expo a sunshiney success

WITH the sun sparkling off Lake Hume and the weather gods delivering a perfect Autumn Day, the 29th Tallangatta Expo welcomed strong crowd numbers for the Thursday April 18 event.

"From a Rotary point of view we were very happy with how the day went," said Rotary club secretary, Manny Chessari.

"Exhibitors were a smidge down on last year's good numbers but visitors were still excellent, which was despite the Victorian School Holidays not falling in sync with the expo."

Held at the Tallangatta Showgrounds the expo gives local farmers and other rural-based residents the opportunity to network with each other and fellow exhibitors.

Wiesners are a family owned agricultural retail business servicing the needs of the people throughout North East Victoria and Southern Riverina through sales, service and parts.

"Wiesner’s attend the Tallagatta Expo every year as we appreciate the opportunity to support our local community and engage with our customers," Simon Bowlers, sales representative, Wodonga Branch.

"The expo itself is held in a fantastic location and on the day we saw a steady level of enquiry in beautiful weather."

The primary goal of the expo is to support local businesses and celebrate community and the expo certainly delivered, with the day a social one.

"From an exhibitor point of view they got a prime opportunity to showcase their products to people who have a genuine interest in what they are selling," Manny said.

"The working dog training created extra interest, and we will be looking to expanding this next year."

Three different clinics each taking 10 dogs and their handlers were scheduled across the day, with traditional working dog training; working dogs off horses; and training for agility and obedience all on offer.

"An interesting aspect was the site run by North East Wild Dog Action Group, which had large numbers of people visit their site seeking information, and also signing the petition which seeks to retain the status quo of wild dog controls, rather than banning baiting and trapping," said Manny.
