Fernhill Angus represent pinnacle of quality and reliability

LOCATED in Hopefield just over the border from Corowa, in New South Wales, Fernhill Angus Stud was established in 1998.

It commenced with 13 heifers from Hazeldean Angus and over the decades built its herd to 350 stud cows by breeding and purchasing females from Coolana, Witherswood, ICM, Welcome Swallow and Bluevale Angus Studs.

"We believe the Angus breed has developed excellent genetics and marketing to provide high-quality protein products for human consumption," said stud principal Rowley Bennett.

"Current and projected advances should ensure a superior beef breed to meet this requirement."

All Fernhill females are inseminated each year, and then back-up bulls pick up any empty animals at the end of the AI program.

Dick Whale selects the AI sires.

"In addition to Breedplan we have commenced Igenity Beef profiling, providing more information to our clients when looking to purchase bulls from Fernhill," Rowley said.

"We aim to breed bulls for use in commercial herds with emphasis on structural soundness, fertility, and good temperament."

Fernhill Angus will be hosting its annual on-farm sale on Wednesday March 26 with the stud also offering bulls up for private sale during the year.
