Truck driver dies in collision near Bundalong

A TRUCK driver has died in a collision near an intersection in the Bundalong area on Thursday afternoon.

Police investigators said a ute and a truck collided close to the intersection of Boomahnoomoonah Road and Carmichaels Road about 2.30pm.

The male driver of the truck was treated at the scene but could not be revived.

The female driver of the ute was taken to Northeast Health Wangaratta with minor injuries.

Police said the investigation into the collision is ongoing.

The horror start to the year on the region’s roads continues, with seven lives now lost on North East roads, including two fatalities in the Bundalong area.

A total of 48 lives have been lost across the state’s roads, six more than this time last year.
