Works continue at Mount Beauty Primary School

By PHOEBE MORGAN

DEMOLITION of several buildings at Mount Beauty Primary School is well underway.

As reported in the Alpine Observer/Myrtleford Times on June 13 this year, several extraneous classroom buildings have now been knocked down to make way for a new multi-purpose room and administration buildings.

Removal of the demolished buildings has now been completed in order to begin work on the outdoor classroom and green space.

"The demolition is going great," school principal Carolyn Serpell said.

"We now have a blank canvas to work with, one that will be more open and connected.

"So far we're managing really well with minimal interruptions to the children's daily schooling.

"The builders have been incredibly supportive and we hope to reinstate work areas before the kids return at the start of term three."

Plans for a celebratory re-opening of the new buildings are in the works, but have not been decided on yet.

"Our new multi-purpose rooms will be a great asset to the community, as well as the everyday enhanced play areas and open space plan for the children," Ms Serpell said.
