Operations
North East Media is an award-winning news and information company based at Wangaratta, Victoria, with offices at Myrtleford, Mansfield, Euroa and Hawthorn in Melbourne. The group also publishes to the wine, forests, timber and tourism industries in Adelaide, and the New South Wales Snowy Mountains.
The company has diversified its product range, initially with magazines and special publications, to more recently launching websites, apps and digital editions.

Publications
Besides publishing newspapers in progressive towns in North East Victoria, the company produces specialist regional property sections and several niche lifestyle, tourism, snow sports and farming titles.
Digital
North East Media continues to grow digital offerings through a portfolio of news and information websites representing its various publication’s titles.
In March 2020 the company commenced work on the development of a new website network covering all of the company’s publications supported by a market leading purpose build editorial content management system. The new sites were launched in January 2021 and have greatly enhanced the company’s digital footprint.
Readers can access North East Media’s publications in full as digital newspapers. Digital editions can be viewed via smartphone, tablet or desktop device either through North East Media Newspapers Direct website, or the North East Media App on an Apple, Android (Google) or Microsoft device.
North East Media’s digital division, NEM Digital, was launched in 2018 and provides business across the region with digital marketing solutions such as mobile friendly website and Google and Facebook advertising campaigns.
Printing
North East Media publications and a variety of other externally produced publications are printed at the company’s printing plant in Wangaratta. The modern Goss Community press line comprises three fully automated Four High towers and a Muller Martini Alpha Liner inserting system.
North East Media’s print and graphic design division, NEM Creative, provides a one stop shop for commercial printing, design and marketing services.
Magazines
Associated Provincial Press Group companies publish specialist journals and magazines to the farming, wine, viticulture, forests and timber industries from our Adelaide and Melbourne offices.
History
North East Media’s original publishing business was founded by WT Higgins when he purchased The Wangaratta Despatch in 1921 and Wangaratta Chronicle in 1937. The company is still owned by the Higgins family and managed by Edward Higgins, a fourth-generation family member.
