PENINSULA Plastic Crates is a family owned and operated business, established by Ray and Adam Barker, fourth and fifth generations of a family that have been involved in the agricultural sector for over 100 years.
Based in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the family originally formed Peninsula Farm Care Services (www.peninsulafarmcare.com.au), before expanding into crates.
This business provides an array of products and services including, rural fencing, hay baling and sales, property maintenance, grape cartage and wine storage to name a few.
From the farm care business and involvement with the wine industry, it soon became apparent that there was a gap in the market for high quality produce crates matched with a high quality, reliable delivery service complemented by great customer service.
This gap in the market lead to the formation of Peninsula Plastic Crates.

"Having wide exposure to the wine and produce market across many parts of the state, we were already involved in cartage via our truck fleet," said Ray.
"This exposure led to consistent requests for produce crates suited to specific needs.
“The message we keep getting is that we want reliability and top level service.
"Our customers have huge value tied up in their crops and hence our crates need to be there on time every time."
Ray's son, Adam noted that to their customers, reliability is critical.
"Our responsibility to our customers is at the centre of everything we do,” said Adam.
Starting with just two hundred crates in one design, Peninsula Plastic Crates now offers a range of products both for hire and sale.
The business operates from distribution hubs in both the Mornington Peninsula and Shepparton with further depots across the state on the plans.
With thousands of crates now on the inventory, the business is capable of servicing both large and small scale orders alike.
