Premium prices for Banquet genetics

PRODUCERS using Banquet bulls are consistently rewarded with premium prices.

Grass finishers, feed lotters and restockers alike target progeny of Banquet bulls for their improved performance, temperament and structure.

However, the most important premium is the continual improvement of their breeding herd by retaining heifers sired by Banquet bulls.

Taking place at the stud's Mortlake property in south west Victoria, 40 bulls will be going under the hammer on Friday September 6 with the sale featuring the first sons of Banquet Rocket R160.

"Rocket R160 is the outstanding son of Wattletop Moonshine M42," said stud principal Stephen Branson.

Rocket was sold to Queensland at Banquet's 2022 Autumn Sale for $40,000.

"Rocket inherited his magnificent silky skin, soft coat and length of body from Moonshine," said Branson.

"His extra strength of head, bone and thickness come from the great Emblynette family.

"His dam Banquet Emblynette P177 has two other sons retained at Banquet, Statesman S154 and Sahara S228."

Branson said the calves look outstanding, with another son, Silverado S235, sold for $40,000 to Glen McKinlay at Emerald QLD.

Sons of Banquet’s super star sire, Banquet Nuttella N462, will again feature.

His sons topped their 2022 Sales at $65,000, $62,000 and $60,000.

At both Banquet’s 2023 and Autumn 2024 sales, sons peaked at $40,000.

Daughters of Nuttella N462 are now in production and are matching the stud’s expectation for structure, docility and doing ability.

Banquet’s after sale service is well known in the industry.

"In the unlikely and unfortunate event that a bull fails to adequately perform we stand ready to assist in getting your cows in calf," said Branson.

However, the level of quality assurance that a Banquet bull carries make any failure unlikely.

Bulls are bred from a herd that has been meticulously screened, with structural soundness being a top priority for over 30 years.

Prior to sale bulls are subjected to extensive vet checking.

"This includes examination of sexual organs and testing of both semen motility and semen morphology," said Branson

"Our vaccination program includes 7-in-1, for leptospirosis, pestiguard and vibriovax."

Banquet offers generous delivery options, with the Branson family welcoming all enquiries and offering visit times any time.
