Man airlifted in critical condition after Moyhu crash

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a single vehicle crash into a tree in Moyhu on Saturday afternoon.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the man in his 20s was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition following the incident at around 2:20pm on Glenrowan-Moyhu Road.

Leading Senior Constable Andrew Gibson of Wangaratta police said the man had sustained head and upper body injuries.

Led Sen Const Gibson said the man was transported by ambulance one kilometre down the road to Moyhu Recreation Reserve to ensure safe landing of the helicopter and transport of the patient.

A WDCA C grade cricket match between Greta and Benalla taking part at the ground had play suspended while emergency services attended.

Led Sen Const Gibson said investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
